The design process
Phase 1 : Site Visit and Consultation
This free consultation will allow us both an opportunity to understand what you want your new garden to look and feel like. I will come to your garden & ask you a number of questions to help us shape a design brief and set out a budget to help us achieve your goals and desires.
Phase 2 : Brief + Concept Board
After the consultation, I will confirm the brief and budget for your new garden. I will also produce a concept board, full of the types of plants, colour schemes and any hard landscaping ideas we have discussed to give you a visual representation of what the design will aim to incorporate.
Phase 3 : Site Survey + Concept Design
The next steps are to measure up the site, which will then inform up to two concept designs, drawn to scale for you to consider. I charge a fee for my time spent measuring all aspects of your garden from perimeters to neighbouring walls and level changes. If you have a particularly large garden, a surveyor may be required.
Phase 4 : Masterplan + Project Plan
Once we have agreed on the Concept Design, I can begin project planning for your new garden, drawing up the final plans to scale & start contracting any third party landscapers . I will confirm final costings, timelines and work towards the agreed budget.
Phase 5 : Planting Design
If you would like me to go beyond suggestions of plants and colour palettes for your space, I can create a planting plan. This shows where the proposed plants will go, along with a details of the plants and costs to source them and plant them. The plan includes a mood board and aftercare plan.
Phase 6 : Build and Planting
Finally, professional landscapers / gardeners will be contracted to build and deliver your garden design. Or, you are welcome to suggest a contractor you already know. I can make regular site visits to project manage this phase if you wish to add this service. Planting happens once the build phase is complete.
